Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a highly prevalent heterogeneous disease associated with ovulatory dysfunction and hyperandrogenemia. Recent data support a critical role of neuroendocrine dysfunction and metabolic disturbances in the pathophysiology of the syndrome, including hyperleptinaemia.
